VANDALIA, Ohio (AP) — Former President Donald Trump claimed that he — not President Joe Biden — will protect Social Security and warned of a “bloodbath” if he loses in November as he campaigned for Senate candidate Bernie Moreno in Ohio. Moreno faces Secretary of State Frank LaRose and state Sen. Matt Dolan in Tuesday’s GOP primary. Trump also dismissed recent allegations against Moreno, comparing them to attacks he has faced through the years, including his criminal indictments. “You will not be able to have Social Security with this guy in office because he’s destroying the economics of our country. “I made a promise that I will always keep Social Security, Medicare.

NEW YORK (AP) — Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel has discussed leaving her role with former President Donald Trump, with both agreeing to delay a decision until after South Carolina's Feb. 24 primary, according to two people familiar with the matter. But having long faced vocal opposition from a faction of the party, McDaniel is under renewed pressure after Trump publicly questioned whether she should stay in the job. During what was described as a cordial private meeting Monday in Florida, Trump and McDaniel discussed the possibility that she would step down as one of a range of possibilities for changes within RNC leadership. Under the direction of the party's presidential nominee, whoever serves as chair will direct the sprawling nationwide infrastructure designed to elect a Republican president while serving as a chief party fundraiser. ___Associated Press writer Brian Slodysko in Washington and Thomas Beaumont in Las Vegas contributed to this report.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is making a big push to raise money for his reelection effort before the end of the year, appearing at seven events through next Monday — with more to come. Biden will also attend a fundraiser Wednesday near the White House and another one on Monday in Philadelphia. One of the Boston events, titled “You've Got a Friend in Joe,” is billed as an “evening concert" with Taylor and Biden. Taylor, the winner of six Grammy Awards, helped kick off a White House event in 2022 celebrating the Inflation Reduction Act, a climate and health care bill that Biden signed into law. As of the last fundraising reporting deadline at the end of September, Biden and his party reported $91 million cash on hand.
